i've never seen white kids wonHow come indians or east asians always are the winners of Spelling Bee?
not east asians, indians. sigh. there were still more whites who won the spelling bee than east asians.

and it is cultural. it has nothing to do with race or genetics. 11% of participants were south asian decent. obviously they will have a bigger chance of winning as opposed to say less than 1% of another race participating.

and you have never seen white kids win? read about kerry close. she is a white girl who beat an indian boy not too long ago. you probably only pay attention to when someone says asian on tv and ignore other races. (black, white, even hispanic sometimes are participants and finalists in the spelling bee).How come indians or east asians always are the winners of Spelling Bee?
I am an Indian. and I can answer this question. ';always'; is such an exaggeration. Firstly, those Indians have parents who migrated to the US on the basis of education and hard work. So, the parents pass on this ';success'; mantra to their kids. It's a cultural thing. Secondly, Indians as a whole are less capable of gelling into the white society (due to HUGE cultural gap) and hence have less distractions in parties, drugs, etc.


Physical attributes (race) are completely unrelated to intelligence (thinking attributes), emotions (feelings attributes) etc. Race determines nothing in these aspects. Culture does. Those of my country who migrate to yours on the basis of education bring up their children the same way.


And there are SO many whites (in fact much more than Indians, though Indians make less than 1% of the American society) who have won the Spelling Bee contest.





Don't spread the wrong words (in case you are....). An Indian has the same probability of success as you do provided you work hard too. The normal distribution of intelligence in every race is at random, and since there are 6 billion people on the earth, the distribution remains almost (any race can have a slightly higher % of intelligent people at a given time frame, all random) the same across all races.
Asians have a tendency to be pushed harder by their parents, many of whom come from Asia and India where their education was tougher. while an american parent might tell their kid to ';do their best';, most asian parents probably say that to their kid too ... but then when the kid comes home with a B, the parent lectures them about how their childhood was so hard and they need to do better...


Studies have shown that Asians/Indians score higher on SAT tests and whatnot because education is very important for many of these cultures. They feel its their duty to become educated.


However, Asians and Indians are not ';naturally'; smarter because of genes, contrary to belief








To me, its pretty interesting to see the ';culture gap';
yeah apparently alot of the contestants in the finals were of indian descent. i think it obviously has to do with the culture. the culture of the indians is unique, because the values from ancient times have remained mostly the same today. the indians are a tolerant people, as they have absorbed ALL religions into their culture. the majority are hindu, thus alot of hindu values carry over into their tradition which has impacted their culture and way of life throughout time. one of the main goals of hindusim is attaining the highest level of consciousness called ';self realization'; or moksha. by attaining this level, they must go through rigorous steps of achievement in life. they have to focus on fulfilling their duty (dharma) which is why i think they are so disciplined. by fulfilling their duty, they in effect build their karma. in essence, the more they achieve in life, the closer it will be for them to reach the highest goal called ';self realization';. once this phase is reached, this means they have lived a full life, where they have fulfilled all duties and also have done good things thereby building their karma. these are very ancient philosophies which have derived from their scriptures called the vedas and the bhagavad gita, and many others. hinuduism is a very old religion, actually the oldest in the world to be exact. but to make one point clear which i have stated earlier, although the majority of indians are hindu, their culture has always tolerated and absorbed all other religions over the years as well.
lol u saw that too well i think its because theywork harder like im white and im kinda lazy but a lot of white people are more concerned about other things besides academics where like people from india and china and japan are exremely like prowd and and work really hard at like academic skills i think its because back when some places were still comunist the rulers really put pressure on the chools to make their people better than the um western peoples and even after most places discontinued being like communist or w/e like that they current gos over there still have a much higher level of education atleast thats what i think but im only a dumb white boy from america XD
It's not always, but I'll wager it's the culture the kids grew up with that has a lot to do with it -- not to stereotype, but those groups DO tend to emphasize education as the key to success in life.
because they are smart. have you seen how do they study? specially in japan and china. man parents and teachers put a lot of pressure on them. and that's when they're like 11 or 12 years old. i really admire those kids.
well I think south asians(indians) east asians (orientals)


are very much driven by their parents that education must come first .

Because they are having more better education system. u'll come to know when u compare a knowledge of a 5 year old child from these region especially frm India, and 5 yr old in Western white child. XD
im white..ive won spelling bees...i was always the best speller in my class usually.








but those were only class spelling bees..never did anything national...lol
Sometimes white kids do win. Asian parents usually drive their kids to study harder.
the education system is pretty strict. studying and exams are projected as very important, and students study very hard.


most parents(not all) put alot of pressure on their kids to study harder and the competition in schools to be among the best scoring students is really tough.
Because white kids have less IQ, they spend their time watching tv and eating fats thus making them obese, like i see on my tv
LOL thats what I just asked my husband!
Because the smart white kids have better things to do? Like part time jobs or homework - something actually productive.
