It was a reference to his boxing style, and the next line was ';His fists can't hit what his eyes can't see';.





The young Ali was superfast on his feet, the best heavyweight ever at footspeed and mixing up tempos.





And, that poem was written by his friend, Drew ';Bundini'; Brown to describe Ali's style in the ring.





As far as the faith goes, I know that Ali went through stages of shunning alcohol and drugs with different reasons.





First: ';I'm training to win the Olympic Gold';





Second: ';I'm training to win the heavyweight championship';





Third: ';My religion forbids use of drugs and alcohol';.





At the time, being with Malcolm X was accepted in the African American community and by many whites, so Ali continued with his biggest vice: Ice cream.
When he made this statement it had nothing to do with his religious philosophy. He was describing his ability to avoid physical punishment, as well as inflict it on his opponent.
Religious significance? Hardly......he always like to make rhymes and such.......never so him do anything religious even after he converted.
Ali could say whatever he wanted because he was the greatest. Closest thing I can think of is speak softly and carry a big stick, but that is not in Scripture.
